Electrothermal vaporization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003799
A sample introduction technique for atomic spectrometry where a sample is heated rapidly on an electrically conductive surface, such as a graphite tube or boat. The resistive heating first dries the sample, then pyrolyzes the matrix, and finally vaporizes the analyte into a carrier gas stream for transport to an atomizer. This method is distinct from pneumatic nebulization, which introduces the sample as a continuous aerosol spray.
