Electroviscous effects
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003800
Phenomena where the viscosity of a colloidal dispersion is influenced by the presence of an electric double layer around the dispersed particles. These effects arise from the electrostatic interactions between charged particles and the surrounding fluid, which can hinder their movement. They are categorized into primary, secondary, and tertiary effects depending on their origin.
