Nimbostratus cloud
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007944
A dark, diffuse, gray cloud layer that covers the entire sky and produces continuous precipitation, either rain, snow, or ice pellets. These clouds are thick enough to block out the sun and are associated with stable atmospheric conditions. Nimbostratus clouds typically form at middle altitudes, between 2,000 and 7,000 meters (6,500 to 23,000 feet).
