Nernst equation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007827

A mathematical relationship that describes the equilibrium electrode potential of an electrochemical half-cell or cell under non-standard conditions. It relates the measured cell potential to the standard electrode potential, temperature, and the activities or concentrations of the reacting species. This equation is widely applied in electrochemistry to calculate cell potentials and determine unknown concentrations.
