Electrocapillary equation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003651
A thermodynamic relationship that describes the dependence of the interfacial tension at an electrified interface on the applied electric potential and the surface excess concentrations of adsorbed species. It relates the change in interfacial tension to the surface charge density and the chemical potentials of the components. This equation is also known as the Lippmann equation.
