Lippert-Mataga equation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006671
A mathematical model that describes the relationship between the Stokes shift of a fluorescent molecule and the polarity of the solvent. This equation relates the difference in energy between the absorption and emission maxima to the dielectric constant and refractive index of the solvent. It is used to estimate the change in dipole moment of a molecule upon excitation.
