Concentration overpotential
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002363
The portion of the overpotential at an electrode that arises from changes in the concentration of electroactive species at the electrode surface compared to the bulk solution. This occurs when the rate of mass transport to or from the electrode cannot keep up with the rate of the electrode reaction. It is also known as diffusion overpotential.
