Transfer coefficient

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012210

A dimensionless parameter in electrochemistry that describes the fraction of the applied overpotential that contributes to changing the activation energy barrier for an electrochemical reaction. It indicates the symmetry of the activation energy barrier with respect to the applied potential. Its value typically ranges between 0 and 1.
