Cathodic transfer coefficient
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001741
A dimensionless parameter in electrochemistry that describes the fraction of the applied potential that contributes to the activation energy for a cathodic (reduction) reaction. It indicates the symmetry of the energy barrier for electron transfer at an electrode surface. This coefficient typically ranges between 0 and 1.
