Concentration in experimental surface
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002362
The amount of a component of interest in the region sampled by a surface-sensitive technique, divided by the total amount of all substances in that same volume, and expressed as an atomic fraction such as ppma or as a mass fraction such as micrograms per gram. Because the analysed volume is the shallow region probed by the technique, the value can differ from the bulk concentration, for instance in a segregated or oxidised surface layer.
