Polymer composite
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009164
A material formed by combining a polymer matrix with a reinforcing phase, such as fibers, particles, or laminates, to achieve superior properties compared to the individual components. The polymer matrix binds the reinforcement, transferring stress and protecting it from environmental damage. Common examples include fiberglass and carbon fiber reinforced plastics.
