Carbon-carbon composite
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001648
A composite material consisting of carbon fibers embedded within a carbon matrix, offering exceptional strength, stiffness, and thermal stability at very high temperatures. It is typically manufactured by impregnating a carbon fiber preform with a carbon precursor, followed by pyrolysis and densification cycles. These materials are used in aerospace applications, such as rocket nozzles and aircraft brakes, due to their high-temperature performance.
