Rayon-based carbon fibres
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009959
Carbon fibers produced by the pyrolysis of rayon, a regenerated cellulose fiber, as the precursor material. These fibers are characterized by their relatively isotropic microstructure and good mechanical properties, though generally lower in strength and modulus compared to pitch or polyacrylonitrile-based fibers. They find applications in ablative materials and certain composite structures.
