Inner orbital X-ray emission spectra
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005884
The X-ray emission spectra produced when an electron from an outer shell fills a vacancy in an inner electron shell of an atom. This process releases energy in the form of an X-ray photon, whose energy is characteristic of the specific electronic transition and element. These spectra are used in techniques like X-ray fluorescence for elemental analysis.
