Frustrated Lewis acid-base pair
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004689
A combination of a Lewis acid and a Lewis base that are prevented from forming a classical dative bond due to steric hindrance. This spatial separation allows the individual Lewis acid and base sites to remain reactive, enabling them to activate small molecules such as hydrogen, carbon dioxide, or olefins. These systems are often used in catalysis.
