Transient crosslink
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012222
A non-covalent bond or physical association between polymer chains that forms and breaks reversibly under specific conditions. These temporary links arise from interactions such as hydrogen bonding, ionic aggregation, or metal-ligand coordination, in contrast to permanent covalent crosslinks. The characteristic lifetime of these reversible junctions is temperature-dependent and determines the material's viscoelastic response, including its flow and relaxation behavior.
