Transgenic

Describing an organism that contains genetic material from another species, or from the same species but modified, which has been artificially introduced and stably incorporated into its genome. This genetic modification allows the organism to express new traits or altered levels of existing traits. Transgenic animals and plants are widely used in research and agriculture.
