Copy number
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012998
The number of identical DNA sequences, such as genes or plasmids, present in a cell or organism's genome. This value can vary between individuals and can influence gene expression levels or the dosage of specific proteins. Copy number variations (CNVs) are a type of genetic structural variation that can be associated with disease or phenotypic traits.
