Dominant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003374
Describing an allele or a trait that is expressed phenotypically even when only one copy of the allele is present in a heterozygous individual. In toxicology, a dominant genetic effect manifests when exposure to a substance causes a harmful phenotype in heterozygotes. This contrasts with recessive traits, which require two copies of the allele for expression.
