Recessive gene
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010013
A gene that produces its characteristic effect only when its allele is inherited from both parents, resulting in a homozygous genotype. The trait associated with this gene will not be expressed if a dominant allele is also present. Many genetic disorders, such as cystic fibrosis, are inherited in a recessive manner.
