Heterozygous
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005277
Describing an individual organism that carries two different alleles for a specific gene at the corresponding positions on homologous chromosomes. This genetic condition results from inheriting a different variant of a gene from each parent. The expression of traits in a heterozygous individual depends on the dominance relationship between the two alleles.
