Heterozygote
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005275
An individual organism that possesses two different alleles for a particular gene at corresponding loci on homologous chromosomes. This genetic state means the individual inherited different forms of a gene from each parent. The phenotype expressed by a heterozygote depends on the dominance relationship between the two alleles.
