Eutectoid reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004122
A phase transformation in which a single solid phase cools and transforms isothermally into two or more different solid phases. This reaction occurs at a specific temperature and composition, known as the eutectoid point, in a multi-component system. A common example is the transformation of austenite into pearlite (ferrite and cementite) in steel.
