Metatectic reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007270
A three-phase invariant reaction in a binary or multicomponent system where, upon cooling, a liquid phase transforms into a solid phase and another liquid phase. This reaction is characterized by the decomposition of one liquid into a solid and a second liquid phase at a constant temperature. It is a type of peritectic reaction involving two liquid phases.
