Stationary phase

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011339

A substance that remains fixed in place within a chromatographic system, providing a surface or medium for the separation of components. It interacts differentially with the analytes in the mobile phase, causing them to travel at different rates. This phase can be a solid, a liquid coated on a solid support, or a gel.
