Metastasis

The process by which cancer cells spread from their primary site to distant parts of the body, forming new tumors. This occurs when malignant cells detach from the original tumor, enter the bloodstream or lymphatic system, and establish secondary growths. Metastasis is a hallmark of advanced cancer and a major cause of cancer-related mortality.
