Metathesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007271
A chemical reaction involving the exchange of bonds between two reacting chemical species, resulting in the formation of new products with similar bonding patterns. This process typically occurs without a net change in the oxidation states of the atoms involved. Olefin metathesis, for instance, exchanges alkylidene units between two alkenes.
