Cross-reacting antigen
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002729
An antigen that shares structural similarities or identical epitopes with another antigen, allowing antibodies or T cells raised against one to also bind to the other. This can lead to immunological cross-reactivity, where exposure to one antigen can induce an immune response that also targets a different, but related, antigen. Such antigens are relevant in vaccine development and understanding autoimmune conditions.
