Cross-resistance
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002730
A phenomenon where an organism or population that has developed resistance to one toxic substance also exhibits resistance to other, chemically related substances or those with a similar mode of action. This occurs because the resistance mechanism, such as an efflux pump or metabolic enzyme, can act on multiple compounds. For example, resistance to one insecticide within a class may confer resistance to others in that class.
