Cross reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002708
An undesirable interaction where an analytical reagent or antibody designed to detect a specific analyte also reacts with other, structurally similar substances. This lack of specificity can lead to false positive results or inaccurate quantification in immunoassays and other binding assays. Careful assay design and validation are necessary to minimize cross reactions.
