Non-specific binding

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008053

The undesirable attachment of an analyte or reagent to surfaces or components of a system that are not the intended target. This binding does not involve specific molecular recognition events, such as antibody-antigen interactions or enzyme-substrate binding. It can lead to false positive signals or reduced assay sensitivity in bioanalytical methods.
