Cross sensitivity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002711
A phenomenon where an individual develops an allergic or hypersensitivity reaction to a substance, and subsequently reacts to other chemically similar substances. This occurs because the immune system recognizes shared structural features or epitopes between different compounds. For example, a person allergic to penicillin may also react to other beta-lactam antibiotics.
