Cross-conjugation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002712
Conjugation in which one unsaturated group is conjugated with two others that are not conjugated with each other, so delocalization is branched rather than running through the whole molecule. Benzophenone is an example, the carbonyl being conjugated with each phenyl ring while the two rings are not conjugated through it. Divinyl ketone and the dendralenes are other cross-conjugated systems.
