Cross-tolerance
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002735
A phenomenon where exposure to one substance induces a state of reduced responsiveness or tolerance not only to that substance but also to other, often chemically related, substances. This occurs because the substances share common mechanisms of action or detoxification pathways. Cross-tolerance is relevant in pharmacology and toxicology, influencing drug efficacy and susceptibility to toxicants.
