Multidrug resistance

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007634

The ability of a cell or organism to resist the effects of multiple structurally and mechanistically unrelated therapeutic agents. This phenomenon often arises from increased efflux of drugs from the cell, reduced drug uptake, or enhanced drug metabolism. P-glycoprotein is a well-known efflux pump contributing to this resistance.
