Phase III reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008742
A metabolic process involving the transport of xenobiotic conjugates, which are formed during phase II reactions, out of cells. These reactions are mediated by transmembrane transporter proteins, such as P-glycoprotein or multidrug resistance-associated proteins (MRPs). Phase III reactions are a final step in detoxification, moving conjugated substances across cell membranes for elimination from the body, often into bile or urine.
