ATP binding cassette protein
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000917
A large family of transmembrane proteins that transport a wide variety of substrates across cellular membranes, powered by the hydrolysis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). These proteins are involved in many cellular processes, including nutrient uptake, waste efflux, and drug resistance. P-glycoprotein is a well-known example of an ABC transporter.
