Atresia

The congenital absence or abnormal narrowing of a body opening or tubular structure, such as a duct or canal. This developmental defect results in a complete blockage or an incomplete passage. Esophageal atresia, for instance, is a condition where the esophagus does not develop properly and ends in a blind pouch.
