Conformational epitope
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002418
An antigenic determinant on a protein that is formed by amino acid residues that are not contiguous in the primary sequence but are brought together in three-dimensional space by the protein's folding. Antibodies recognizing these epitopes bind to specific spatial arrangements of amino acids. These epitopes are often sensitive to denaturation of the protein.
