Antigenicity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000686

The capacity of a chemical substance to bind specifically to components of the adaptive immune system, such as antibodies or T-cell receptors. This binding interaction is a prerequisite for initiating an immune response. The degree of antigenicity depends on factors like molecular size, complexity, and the presence of specific epitopes.
