Adaptive immune system
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000222
A component of the immune system characterized by its ability to recognize and specifically target a vast array of pathogens and foreign substances, developing memory for future encounters. It comprises specialized cells, primarily B-lymphocytes and T-lymphocytes, and their products, such as antibodies. This system provides highly specific and long-lasting protection against re-infection.
