Weak collision
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012659
An inelastic collision between molecules where the energy transferred between the translational and internal degrees of freedom is small compared to the thermal energy, kBT. Such collisions result in only minor changes to the internal energy states of the colliding species. This concept is relevant in theories describing unimolecular reaction rates and energy transfer processes.
