Fallout

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004331

The deposition of particulate matter from the atmosphere onto the Earth's surface, particularly referring to radioactive particles resulting from nuclear explosions. This process involves the gravitational settling of aerosols and larger particles. The rate and distribution of fallout depend on particle size, meteorological conditions, and the height of injection into the atmosphere.
