Colloidal dispersion

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002240

A heterogeneous system where finely divided particles, with at least one dimension in the colloidal size range (1 nm to 1 µm), are uniformly distributed in a continuous medium. These systems are thermodynamically unstable but can be kinetically stable for extended periods. Examples include emulsions, sols, and gels.
