Sol-gel transition

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010986

The point at which a colloidal suspension (sol) transforms into a continuous, interconnected network (gel) throughout the entire volume of the system. This transition is characterized by a dramatic increase in viscosity and the loss of fluidity. The gel point marks the onset of infinite cluster formation, where a macroscopic network spans the container.
