Critical excitation energy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002686
The minimum energy required to promote an electron from its ground state to an excited state within an atom or molecule. This energy corresponds to the difference in energy between the two states involved in the transition. It is a characteristic property of each element and is measured in electronvolts (eV).
