Ritchie equation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010391
A linear free-energy relationship that correlates the rates of reaction between electrophiles and nucleophiles. The equation is expressed as log(k/k₀) = N+, where k and k₀ are the rate constants for reaction of a given electrophile with the nucleophile and water, respectively. The N+ parameter is a measure of nucleophilic reactivity that is independent of the electrophile.
