Rivet popper hypothesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010392
A concept suggesting that ecosystems can tolerate the loss of some species without immediate collapse, similar to how an airplane can lose a few rivets. However, beyond a certain threshold, the loss of additional species leads to a rapid and irreversible decline in ecosystem function. This hypothesis emphasizes the interconnectedness of species within an ecological community.
