Fragment-based lead discovery
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004641
A drug discovery approach that identifies small molecular fragments that bind to a biological target, which are then grown or linked to create higher-affinity lead compounds. This method relies on detecting weak binding events using biophysical techniques such as NMR or X-ray crystallography. It offers an efficient way to explore chemical space and develop novel drug candidates.
