Lead identification
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006498
The process of discovering novel chemical compounds that exhibit a desired biological activity against a specific target, such as an enzyme or receptor. This initial stage in drug discovery involves screening large libraries of compounds to find 'hits' that can then be further developed. High-throughput screening methods are frequently employed for this purpose.
